In most cases where certain phones, Modems and routers refuse to connect to the internet,  is that you might have erased or  tempered with the MTN configuration settings.

MTN Internet Settings

To start enjoying high speed internet, you need to make the right settings on your device. Please follow these simple steps outlined below to get ready for an unbeatable internet experience from MTN.

First Method: Automatic Installation

  • Text SETTINGS to 3888, you won’t be charged for the sms, since it is free of charge.
  • The settings will be sent to you via SMS, all you need to do, is to save the settings as soon as they are delivered to avoid deleting them in error.

MTN Manual Configuration Settings

Subscribers, who for one reason or the other, didn’t use the automatic settings, You can use these manual MTN Internet configuration settings.

Smartphones & Devices (Android, iOS, MiFi, etc)

  • Account Name: MTN WEB
  • Port : 
  • Username: 
  • Password: 
  • Access point name (APN): web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net

Java and Symbian phones (WAP settings)

  • Account Name: MTN WAP
  • IP address (Proxy): 10.199.212.2
  • Port: 9201
  • Username: web
  • Password: web
  • Access point name (APN): web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net

TO ensure that you have got the right Proxy settings on your Smartphones, kindly follow the steps below to check;

  • Go to menu and click on Settings
  • Click More Network or Mobile Network
  • Click Access Point Name
  • Click MTN GPRS or MTN WEB
  • Remove the Proxy IP address: 10.199.212.2
  • Remove the Port setting: 8080
  • Then save and browse again.

With the above MTN internet settings and configuration, You can easily access the Internet via MTN anywhere in Nigeria, where there is MTN coverage.
